Feringa - The art of building small:  From molecular switches to molecular motorsApril 27, 2026 From 16:00 until 18:00 - Salle de Conférence, ISIS (Strasbourg)(Texte en français ci-dessous)Ben Feringa, 2016 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, will give a lecture on his journey in the world of molecular nanoscience, describing how it was guided by fundamental questions, potential applications, serendipity and molecular beauty. He will discuss his work on designing miniscule molecular machines, in particular the synthesis and functioning of molecular switches and motors, and their applications such as smart medicines or responsive materials and artificial muscles.The lecture is open to the public and will be given in English; the event is organised in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Thematic Institute (ITI) on the Chemistry of Complex Systems (SysChem).Registration linkProgramme and more information------------------------------Ben Feringa, lauréat du prix Nobel de chimie 2016, donnera une conférence sur son parcours dans le monde de la nanoscience moléculaire, en expliquant comment celui-ci a été guidé par des questions fondamentales, des applications potentielles, des découvertes fortuites et la beauté moléculaire. Il évoquera ses travaux sur la conception de minuscules machines moléculaires, en particulier la synthèse et le fonctionnement des interrupteurs et moteurs moléculaires, ainsi que leurs applications telles que les médicaments intelligents, les matériaux réactifs et les muscles artificiels.La conférence est ouverte au public et se déroulera en anglais.
