Résumé

- A scientific researcher whose journey spans the fascinating worlds of protein biochemistry, drug discovery, and pharmacy. Open to work as a Scientist and Postdoc researcher in the related fields.

- Guided by curiosity and a deep love for life sciences, I earned my Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry at the University of Strasbourg (FR) through the European Marie Skłodowska-Curie program.

- Being part of this international doctoral network called MepAnti (https://mepanti.hips-wordpress.helmholtz-hzi.de/) helped me gain experiences across both academia and industry which shaped me into a versatile researcher, driven by the desire to turn complex challenges into impactful innovations in drug discovery.

- Fluent in Italian (native), English (B2 TOEIC), and French.
- Currently learning German 20 hours per week.

Expériences professionnelles

Academic phd secondment

Ghent University

De Mars 2023 à Mai 2023

• Utilized chemistry of phosphoramidites leading to three promising antimalarial compounds.
• Prodrug synthesis of a known inhibitor of IspH
In the Medicinal Chemistry laboratory of Prof. Dr. Serge Van Calenbergh.

Industrial phd secondment

Specs, part of eMolecules, Inc.

De Octobre 2021 à Mars 2022

• Performed chemical optimization of hit compounds targeting IspH, under the guidance of Peter Maas.
• Collaborated with cross-functional teams to integrate drug discovery pipelines.
• Learned PyMOL basics for pharmacophore-based search using the X-ray structure of an IspH homolog.

Phd biological chemistry

University of Strasbourg

De Novembre 2020 à Mai 2024

PhD supervisor: Dr. Myriam Seemann.
Production and purification of an oxygen-sensitive iron-sulfur enzyme, IspH, essential for the survival of critical pathogens. A complete kinetic and biophysical enzymatic characterization enabled an in vitro screening campaign of more than 300 compounds by enzymatic assay under anaerobic conditions leading to a promising lead candidate for possibly fighting AMR.

• Conducted independent doctoral research on the role of an oxygen-sensitive iron-sulfur enzyme,
IspH, essential for the survival of critical pathogens. Laboratory of Dr. Myriam Seemann.
• Performed protein expression and purification; in-depth kinetic and biophysical studies on IspH
leading to two unprecedented X-ray structures.
• Designed and executed an in vitro screening campaign of over 300 compounds under anaerobic
conditions, which led to the identification of one promising drug candidate for fighting antimicrobial
resistance (AMR).
• Collaborated with international teams under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie program.
• Published scientific articles, and delivered oral and poster presentations at international meetings.

Master thesis project

University of Erlangen-Nuremberg

De Avril 2019 à Septembre 2019

• Developed chemical tools for targeted degradation of the β2 adrenergic receptor under the guidance of
Dr. Matthias Schiedel in the Medicinal Chemistry laboratory of Prof. Peter Gmeiner.
• Synthesized PROTAC molecules that were tested in binding-protein assays.
• Applied Solid-Phase Peptide Synthesis (SPPS) delivering around 10 final peptides.

Trainee

Farmacia Antonia dr.ssa Giannone

De Juillet 2018 à Janvier 2019

I acquired the main competencies of a Pharmacist, I handled the medical treatment for patients affected by common minor pathologies, and I also learned the informatics processing of the medical prescriptions.
